Non-Elemental Effects

There is a special category of effects which are not tied to any specific element. Most of them are Auxiliary Verbs, which are intended to be suffixed to another verb in order to alter the way it behaves, and usually cannot be used on their own without combining them in this way.

  • Pause: plo~N shalth
    • Requires one free hand. Auxiliary verb which inserts a delay of ~N tenths of a second in the sequence of spell effects. Either it or the effect preceding it must be inflected in the Sequential form. This verb can be invoked more than once in a given incantation.

  • Trigger: pledolth
    • Requires both hands. Auxiliary verb which delays the manifestation of a spell until the caster performs a specific gesture. While the spell is "held", it drains the caster's MP by 10% of the spell's total cost per second, in addition to the normal MP cost which must be spent when the spell manifests. The required gesture is specific to the combination of effect, targeting method and manifestation. This must be the final verb in the Effect Phrase, and is ungrammatical in combination with other verbs that have the same requirement.

  • Shaping (Wall): ralth
    • Requires both hands. Auxiliary verb used to alter the shape of an area effect (AOE) without increasing its volume. AOE will be shaped into a line between two points indicated by the player's index fingers at the time the incantation is completed. The wall has a maximum height of 4m and thickness of 2m, and the area cannot be "stretched" beyond a point that would make it less than one meter thick.

  • Sacrifice: nibralth
    • Requires both hands. Auxilliary verb which divides the total cost of a spell evenly between the caster's HP and MP. This also reduces the required skill level, but doubles the total cooldown timer. This effect is the only way to cast a spell above the caster's skill level, and must be the final verb in the Effect Phrase, and is ungrammatical in combination with other verbs that have the same requirement.

  • Shaping (Block): nuzha~H cho~W ralth
    • Requires both hands. Auxiliary verb used to alter the shape of an area effect (AOE) without changing its volume. The AOE is shaped into a rectangular area centered on the target with a height in meters defined by ~H and a width defined by ~W.

  • Shaping (Ring): lezha~H cho~T vacho~R ralth
    • Requires both hands. Auxiliary verb used to alter the shape of an area effect (AOE). AOE will be shaped into a ring centered on the target, with a height of ~H, thickness of ~T, and an inner radius in meters defined by ~R. The spell will fail if the parameters would cause the resulting AOE to exceed its original volume.

    • Requires one free hand. Auxiliary verb which forces a Benign or Recovery effect to apply only to members of the caster's Party or Raid Group.
