Earth Magic: do
Earth Magic is primarily defensive, with a number of utility effects--some of which are associated with crafting. Earth Magic damage is partially physical in nature, and bypasses a portion of the target's magic or elemental resistances.
Gnomes have a natural affinity with earth, and receive the following benefits associated with it:
- They begin with the Earth Magic skill, which does not consume a skill slot.
- +25% base Earth Resistance
- +10% rate of skill gain with Earth Magic
- -1 to minimum Magnitudes for Earth Magic spell effects
- Exclusive access to certain effects

- Requires one free hand. Generates a protective shield in front of the caster (or a chosen target, if a targeting method is specified) which absorbs incoming projectiles and magic attacks. Can absorb total spell energy equal to its own Magnitude before disappearing. If cast as a maintained spell, drains MP equal to the damage absorbed each time it is struck.

- Requires one free hand. Generates a sheath of elemental armor around the target, which does not inhibit or encumber them. Dispelled after absorbing sufficient damage.

While encased, target is protected from all hostile actions, but cannot move or act in any way. Either the target or the caster can dismiss this buff at any time by using Focus in their HUD. This effect can only be cast by Gnomes.

- Requires one free hand. Summons a tracking familiar unique to each element, which locks onto its target and follows them for a set period of time.

Enchants a single nonmagical item held in the right hand using the item held in the left hand as a consumable material component, imbuing the right-hand item with the spell effects that follow zhapyotelth in Conditional form. Manually activated items require the Trigger effect to define their activation method.
